This meeting included discussion and provided a platform for medical specialists and key stakeholders across multiple fields to meet, collaborate, and discuss concepts that have a practical impact on the Canadian healthcare landscape.

John Kuruvilla, MD, FRCPC

Dr. John Kuruvilla is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto and a Clinical Investigator in the Division of Medical Oncology and Hematology at Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto. He is a hematologist and member of the Lymphoma Program and the Autologous Blood and Marrow Transplant program. Dr. Kuruvilla’s research interest is the development of novel therapeutics in lymphoid malignancies and incorporating translational research into clinical trials. He is the Lymphoma Co-Chair for the Canadian Cancer Trials Group (CCTG) as well as the Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board of Lymphoma Canada.

Philip Baer, MD, FRCPC

Dr. Philip Baer is a graduate of McGill University’s Faculty of Medicine, where he was the class gold medallist. He trained in Internal Medicine at the Montreal General Hospital, followed by a rheumatology fellowship at the University of Toronto, supported by The Arthritis Society of Canada. Dr. Baer has practised as a clinical rheumatologist in eastern Toronto for over 30 years. He is an active participant in clinical registries and Continuing Medical Education. Dr. Baer is Medical Director of ivari, Texas Life and Canadian Premier Life; Past-Chair and current Secretary of the Section of Rheumatology of the Ontario Medical Association (OMA), OMA District 11 Centenary Branch Society Delegate; President of the Ontario Rheumatology Association (ORA); Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the Canadian Rheumatology Association (CRA); and a member of the Board of Directors of the Journal of Rheumatology. In 2011, Dr. Baer was recognized as the GTA Community Rheumatologist of the Year by the Division of Rheumatology, University of Toronto. In 2012, Dr. Baer received the OMA Section Service Award and was recognized as the Rheumatologist-of-the-Year by the ORA. In 2016, Dr. Baer received the CRA Practice Reflection Silver Award.
